Today, August 15th, is no ordinary date for us Santangiolesi.
It’s the celebration — the most awaited and cherished of the year, even more than Christmas. A time when the town fills with familiar voices, colors, and scents, and when the heart gives in to memories that resurface vividly, like old photographs tinged with yellow.
On this special day, memories come alive once more. We think back to that unforgettable decade, from 2004 to 2014, when ViviSantangelo turned every August into a stage filled with life and emotion. Between food festivals, music, and ancient traditions, the now-famous photography exhibitions and the unforgettable “video nights” took shape — true multimedia events that, every August, drew large crowds.
Nights when the town square became an open-air theatre, where memories lit up the big screen and every image felt like a leap straight to the heart. Over the years, these video nights became a cherished tradition, a fixed date on the evening of August 14th.
A heartfelt thanks naturally goes to the strong commitment and dedication of the municipal administration and the local Pro Loco of the time. With the dawn of the new millennium, a fresh, ambitious vision began to take shape—one driven by change and a forward-looking spirit.
From 2015 onwards, ViviSantangelo made way for other administrative and organizational initiatives, introducing “new” events in the hope of keeping alive the flame of local tradition and memory. Yet those ten years remain etched in collective memory as a time of extraordinary energy and creativity.
It was only in 2024 that ViviSantAngelo made a grand return for its 20th anniversary (2004–2024), becoming part of the year dedicated to Turismo delle Radici (Roots Tourism) and bringing back to Sant’Angelo del Pesco a cultural showcase of great significance: EXPO 2024 – Sant’Angelo del Pesco on Display. This unique and extraordinary event, of particular importance, promised to spark new ideas and projects for the future of our town.
